The Village of Cutler Bay was incorporated in 2005 and is a municipality located in Southeast Miami Dade County just south of Palmetto Bay. The boundaries are on the North, SW 184th Street (Eureka Drive), on the West, the east side of the Busway to the coast, on the South, north of 232nd Street, and on the East, the Biscayne Bay National Park, forming a Town of approximately 10 square miles.
The homes in Cutler Bay consist of mostly single family homes some townhomes, condos, duplexes and some newer construction such as Cutler Cay, a gated community off Old Cutler Road and SW 186th Street as well as other communities in smaller homeowner's associations and some with no association.
After incorporation the village of Cutler Bay has seen a good deal of improvement in both infrastructure and services and is a wonderful suburban community in Southeast Miami-Dade county.

On April 18, 2012, the School Board of Miami-Dade County voted to approve an Interlocal Agreement with the Town of Cutler Bay. Part of this agreement included the conversion of Centennial Middle School into a high-performing senior high school: Cutler Bay Senior High School. For the 2015-2016 school year, the campus will be comprised of students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. Prior to this the high school was Southridge High for this municipality.
